Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA)

Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA) is a technical standard developed by the US Department of Defense to define common, open interfaces for sensor and processing modules used in defense platforms. By standardizing physical and software interfaces, SOSA enables components from different vendors to interoperate and be replaced or upgraded without redesigning the entire system.

SOSA supports the broader MOSA (Modular Open Systems Approach) strategy, reducing acquisition costs and shortening upgrade cycles. It is primarily applied in radar, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence systems.
