It converts a project directly from Enterprise Architect (or from a previously exported XMI 2.1 file) into a .mdzip file, preserving all model elements, diagram layouts, and structure. The result is a ready-to-use Cameo Systems Modeler file without any manual re-creation.

Does Publisher for SPARX EA require Cameo Systems Modeler or a Cameo license to run?

No. Publisher for SPARX EA uses only the .mdzip file format and does not require Cameo software, a license, or any plugins for the Cameo environment. The conversion runs standalone. You only need SPARX Enterprise Architect installed and a valid Publisher license.

What types of model content are converted?

The conversion includes all SysML, UML, UPDM, and UAF model elements, diagram layouts, and user-defined profiles. This covers structure diagrams (elements, relationships, tagged values), behavior diagrams such as Use Case, Activity, State, and Sequence diagrams, and composite diagrams. Converted diagrams remain faithful to the original content, layout, and modeler intent while adopting Cameo Systems Modeler's styling conventions.

What operating systems does Publisher for SPARX EA support?

The publisher supports Windows operating systems only. Other operating environments are not supported, due to the FlexNet™ licensing scheme. Licensing is available in both floating and node-locked configurations, including trial and temporary licenses.

Can we customize how the conversion handles our team's modeling standards?

Yes. Publisher for SPARX EA provides two configuration files that allow teams to control and consistently apply their defined methods and styling. These user-configurable settings help reduce manual cleanup of the target model after conversion, so your team's defined conventions carry through automatically. 

Is our model data sent to any external server during conversion?

No. Publisher for SPARX EA does not keep or process any of your data. Everything happens securely inside your XMI file, and converted files are stored directly on your computer in your classified environment. Your data remains yours at all times. This makes the tool suitable for use in security-sensitive and regulated-industry environments.
