Functional Mock-up Unit (FMU)

A Functional Mock-up Unit (FMU) is a simulation component packaged in accordance with the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) standard. It encapsulates a model and its associated data into a portable file that can be imported and executed in any FMI-compliant simulation environment.

FMUs enable teams to share and reuse simulation models across different tools without exposing the underlying implementation. They are used in automotive, aerospace, and industrial development for system-level co-simulation, allowing subsystem models from different disciplines or suppliers to be integrated and simulated together.
