Connect PTC Windchill and Atlassian Jira Software with live, bidirectional OSLC links. No data duplication, real-time traceability, and audit-ready change control across your PLM and agile toolchains.
OSLC Connect for Windchill is a server-side extension for PTC Windchill that exposes Windchill artifacts as OSLC resources over standard REST web services. Once deployed, Jira users can create live links to Windchill Change Notices, Parts, and Documents directly from Jira issues, and Windchill users can do the same in reverse.
The integration supports bidirectional linking between Jira issues (change requests, bugs, features) and Windchill change objects (Change Notices, Problem Reports, and more). Rich previews give each team real-time visibility into the linked artifact without ever leaving their native tool.
Built on the OASIS OSLC open standard, the connector is technology-agnostic, governance-ready, and designed for regulated industries where data ownership, access control, and audit trails are non-negotiable.
OSLC Connect references remote data over live OSLC/REST calls instead of copying it. Each tool remains the single source of truth for its own data. There is no sync job to maintain and no risk of conflicting copies.
The integration uses the OASIS OSLC standard adopted across the engineering toolchain industry. The same connector can link Windchill to IBM ELM, Jira, Confluence, and other OSLC-compliant tools, giving you a consistent, extensible integration architecture rather than a point-to-point workaround.
All link relationships are persisted directly in the Windchill repository using Windchill's own data model. Links travel with your product data and remain accessible through Windchill's standard change and configuration management processes.
Purpose-built for engineering teams managing complex, regulated products. Every capability is designed to reduce friction between hardware and software disciplines without compromising data integrity or governance.
Add links to existing Jira issues using the search bar or create a new Jira issue directly from PTC Windchill.
Linking artifacts help you identify how a change request initiated in Jira impacts the product's design or functionalities by linking it to the corresponding change notice in PTC Windchill.
Select an existing Windchill artifact or create a new one from scratch. Pick the Change Object type and provide additional details. Creating a Link is as simple as it gets with OSLC Connect for PTC Windchill.
Once the link is created, hovering on it will provide you with a preview of the Windchill artifact. You can click on the link to navigate to the linked artifact in Windchill if you need more information.
Teams in aerospace, automotive, defense, and other regulated industries choose OSLC Connect for Windchill because it combines deep OSLC expertise with a deployment model that respects enterprise governance requirements.
Trace every Jira change request back to its corresponding Windchill change notice, part, or document, and forward again. Supports audit trails and compliance reviews without manual reporting.
Hardware and software teams see the full impact of a change in minutes, not days. Reduce the back-and-forth between PLM and agile tools that slows down engineering change processes.
The same OSLC foundation that connects Windchill to Jira can be extended to IBM ELM, Confluence, SECollab, and other OSLC-compliant tool, protecting your integration investment as your toolchain evolves.
Everything you need to evaluate, deploy, and get the most out of the Windchill–Jira integration, from technical documentation to expert support.
