Version Control

Version control systems track changes to files and configurations, enabling teams to manage revisions over time. It ensures that historical data can be retrieved, and modifications can be tracked. It also enables multiple team members to work in parallel by separating changes into branches and later combining them, ensuring collaborative development remains consistent and controlled.

Version control is primarily rooted in software engineering, while version management is more often used in configuration management for software, documents, models, and other artifacts.
