One platform to review, trace, and prove compliance across your engineering tools

SECollab brings requirements, models, tests, and documents from your entire toolchain into a single web platform, so regulated engineering teams can run formal reviews and generate audit-ready traceability without forcing everyone onto one tool.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What is SECollab?

SECollab (Systems Engineering Collaboration) is a tool-agnostic, OSLC-native platform that aggregates engineering data and documents from across your toolchain into a single web environment. It preserves each tool's authoritative source of truth while enabling cross-domain traceability, structured formal reviews, compliance reporting, and configuration management, all from one access point.

SECollab supports both formal OSLC-native integrations and pragmatic publication-based aggregation, so legacy desktop tools and file-based formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) participate in the same digital thread as OSLC-enabled requirements, modeling, and change-management tools.

Traceability, end to end

Link requirements, architecture, tests, and change records into one connected view, with native version, source, and validity data preserved on every artifact.

Reviews across every tool

Bring reviewers, suppliers, and customers into one review, no matter which tool produced the artifact, and without every guest needing a full license.

Compliance, generated automatically

Export real-time traceability and compliance reports in PDF, Excel, Word, or HTML, built from live data, not a manual audit scramble.

KEY CAPABILITIES

What you can do with SECollab

SECollab covers the full lifecycle of a formal engineering review, from first import to final compliance report.

CENTRALIZED DATA

Aggregate data from any tool, without disrupting the ASOT

Bring requirements, models, and documents from IBM DOORS, IBM Rhapsody, MagicDraw/Cameo, Sparx EA, Capella, Jira, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and PDF into a single web platform. Data is ingested through server-side agents (event-based or scheduled), OSLC TRS feeds, or the SECollab Publisher desktop client. SECollab keeps its own copy for fast, unified access while preserving traceability back to each item's native Authoritative Source of Truth (ASOT) and its validity metadata.

TRACEABILITY LINKS

See the relationships your tools can't show you on their own

Create and manage cross-domain links between requirements, architecture, test artifacts, and change items; even across non-OSLC, siloed tools. Explore those relationships through an interactive graph explorer, and define custom digital viewpoints tailored to a discipline, a review, or a program milestone. Custom ontologies, dynamic types, and native OSLC link types are all supported.

FORMAL REVIEW MANAGEMENT

Run structured, multi-stakeholder reviews across every data source

Define objectives, contributors, and reading paths that focus reviewers on exactly what matters for a given milestone. Annotate any artifact (e.g. requirements, models, diagrams, documents) with comments and discussion threads. Collaborate internally, or open the review to external partners and customers without issuing them authoring licenses. Track progress on centralized dashboards, and export or import findings to Excel for downstream disposition.

COMPLIANCE EVIDENCE

Generate compliance and traceability evidence automatically

A no-code template engine, backed by a Neo4j graph database, generates real-time traceability reports: coverage widgets, compliance matrices, traceability tables, and KPI dashboards. Publish finished documents to Word, PDF, Excel, or HTML (via BIRT templates). Background agents keep the underlying data current, so every report reflects the latest state; not a stale export.

Standards-based by design

SECollab is built on open, vendor-neutral standards rather than a proprietary data model, which is what makes tool-agnostic collaboration possible in the first place.

Data Model

Published resources are stored as RDF triples in a Neo4j graph database, mapped to standard OSLC domains (RM v3, AM v2.4, QM v1, CM), with custom types and properties preserved alongside standard ones.

Configuration Management

Conforms to OSLC Configuration Management standards (e.g; components, streams, baselines, and global configurations) so SECollab fits naturally into an existing GC strategy rather than introducing a new one.

Standards Compliance

OSLC RM, AM, QM, and CM; OSLC Global Configuration; and RDF/Linked Data throughout.

Extensibility

Custom domain connectors via SDK, dynamic ontologies, and query-based custom types let SECollab reach data formats outside the standard OSLC domains.

INTEGRATIONS

Connect SECollab to the tools you already use

SECollab meets your data where it lives. It supports both formal OSLC-native integrations and pragmatic publication-based aggregation for legacy desktop tools and file formats.

Don't see your tool? SECollab's open APIs and documented Java SDK let developers build custom integrations. Get in touch to discuss the specifics.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about SECollab

What is SECollab, in one sentence?

SECollab is a web-based platform that aggregates engineering data from across your toolchain into a single, version-controlled environment for cross-domain traceability, structured review, and compliance reporting.

Does SECollab replace my requirements or modeling tools?

No. SECollab is a review and collaboration layer, not an authoring tool. Requirements are still authored in DOORS, models are still authored in Rhapsody, Cameo, or Capella, and so on. SECollab collects and links that data for review, traceability, and reporting while preserving each item's native Authoritative Source of Truth.

How does SECollab handle version and configuration management?

SECollab conforms to the OSLC Global Configuration (GC) standard, managing components, streams, and baselines. It can operate as a standalone GC manager or participate in an IBM ELM GCM setup, with visual diff views showing what changed between versions.

Can external partners, suppliers, or customers participate in a review?

Yes. Reviews can be opened to external stakeholders on a controlled basis, without provisioning them authoring licenses in your core engineering tools — they participate in the review itself, not in the source tool.

What does SECollab connect to out of the box?

IBM DOORS and DOORS Next, IBM Engineering Rhapsody, IBM Jazz CCM, MagicDraw/Cameo, Sparx Enterprise Architect, PolarSys Capella, UNICOM System Architect, Mega HOPEX, Atlassian Jira, Siemens Polarion ALM, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat PDF. A documented SDK and OSLC REST API let you extend to additional or proprietary tools.

How is SECollab deployed, and who controls the data?

SECollab is delivered as an on-premise web application with a companion desktop Publisher client, so it runs inside your own infrastructure under your existing network and data security policies. For programs with specific identity-management or access-control requirements. our team can walk through current capabilities and roadmap against your program's requirements.

How does SECollab generate compliance and traceability reports?

A no-code template engine, backed by a Neo4j graph database, produces real-time coverage widgets, compliance matrices, traceability tables, and KPI dashboards, publishable to Word, PDF, Excel, or HTML. Because background agents keep the underlying data current, reports always reflect the latest state rather than a point-in-time export.

Where do I find installation, administration, and API documentation?

Full installation, administration, and user guides are available in the SECollab product documentation. Developers extending SECollab can also reference the documented Java SDK and OSLC-standard APIs.
