Linked Data
Linked Data is an approach that allows structured data from different sources, to be queried and connected. Tools integrated using linked data inherently share the most recent and accurate data.
The OSLC standard (Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration) uses the Linked Data protocol to deliver seamless integration between heterogeneous tools through specified services and interfaces. OSLC uses URLs to point to these resources, relying on traditional Web principles.
Benefits of Linked Data
- Unlike data synchronization or data replication, linked data remains in its original repository,
- Linking data breaks down data silos,
- Linking ensures that the data is up-to-date,
- No copies of data are created,
- URI-based vocabulary: allows everything to be linked together.
