What's new in the OSLC Connect for Jira 2.7.0 release

We are excited for users to access our latest release of OSLC Connect for Jira, which offers improvements that will make users' experience better and more productive.

Decorate your (OSLC) Links

The motivation of live linking is visibility. Rich hovers are always available in Atlassian Jira for our OSLC links, but we wanted to simplify the experience and make things more visible for users.

We drew on existing experience with strikethroughs with closed artifacts in Change Linking. For example, the below visual indication gave us immediate feedback on an Issue of a linked artifact status is closed.

We wanted to expand the concept beyond change artifacts.

OSLC Connect for Jira 2.7.0 now includes decorators for “priority” and “status that can be used for OSLC links. You can see the links below with these new decorators.

Our goal is to support when users should dive deeper into the relationship.

For example, understanding a requirement is “Under Review” should encourage users not to implement a feature yet. Seeing that a requirement (or change) is of high priority should drive users to prioritize work. If you need to know more, you can use the rich hovers or navigate to the other tool, but we eliminate a step and empower users to leverage the existing links.

Server administrators can also customize the remote priority/status value style to best suit your team’s needs.

More power from OSLC and fully consistent with the style and experience of Atlassian Jira.

Faster Drag and Drop

OSLC Connect for Jira users gave us feedback that they loved the Drag and Drop experience, but we had too many user actions. Users initiate a link, select a link type, select a container, and then drop an artifact. We felt we could do better.

As a user, the drop zone needed to be more accessible. Now when you go to the Collaboration Link, the drop zone is immediately available. OSLC Connect for Jira will detect the link type and container based on the artifact you drop.

Drop on Existing Links

When users drop artifacts on existing links, we will accelerate the linking process by detecting the artifact type and pre-populating your link configuration. Faster linking is now dragged and drop away.

Assisting the Enterprise

Managing the collaboration of repositories across on-premise, on-cloud, and everywhere in between can be a challenge to any team.

As we have supported deployment, we know that the topology, network configuration, and IT challenges can slow down deployment. Therefore, our goal is to support your experience in meaningful ways to be operational in the enterprise.

Reporting Issues

If there is an error, the error messages should be simple and easily shared. While enterprise issues (often networking) can be difficult to diagnose, we have added diagnostics in our application to guide understanding your issue.

Simple messages, such as this inaccessible rootservices document, guide your enterprise team to diagnose and resolve.

The “Show details” provides the next level of understanding for more complex issues.

With this guidance, your IT team will be quick to respond and address the needs of enterprise operation.

With these tools, we can make sure you have an OSLC Friendly Enterprise Configuration.
