In the automotive industry, the AUTOSAR Classic Platform standard has been widely adopted for small to medium Electronic Control Units (ECUs). With the newer AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform getting adopted in more complex and advanced Automotive applications, AUTOSAR is taking over. However, with new platforms come new challenges: the design and implementation of AUTOSAR compatible components (AUTOSAR engineering) require in-depth expertise in the AUTOSAR concept.
The IBM Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody - AUTOSAR extension in a nutshell
The AUTOSAR engineering environment enables automotive engineers to quickly model advanced capabilities using standard graphical notations and techniques. Compliance with AUTOSAR is ensured by the tool environment that takes care of the transformation between SysML, UML, AUTOSAR, and AR-UML. Engineers can deliver their AUTOSAR engineering projects without having to be experts on the details of AUTOSAR, effectively letting the engineers focus on the application domain, the architecture, functionality, behavior, etc., while letting the tool handle all the distinct (and for some, peculiar) aspects of AUTOSAR.
To help clients accelerate their AUTOSAR engineering projects, and reduce upfront training and education efforts, SodiusWillert and IBM have partnered to make a solution available that greatly simplifies the development of AUTOSAR components.
The IBM Rhapsody - AUTOSAR Extension leverages a model-based approach to systems and software engineering and simplifies adherence to AUTOSAR requirements for engineers with little to no expertise in AUTOSAR engineering.
Join us for the IBM AUTOSAR Webinar Series
Starting this August, IBM and SodiusWillert are launching a series of webinars where we will cover concepts, workflows, and practical aspects of AUTOSAR component development.
If you are a systems or software engineer in automotive development, this series of webinars will provide you with everything you need to know for a successful start in your AUTOSAR engineering project. Register for the webinars to explore the benefits of this solution for your AUTOSAR engineering projects.
Episode 1 - AUTOSAR is taking over. What's in it for you?
We will begin with an “AUTOSAR 101” in the first session, introducing AUTOSAR and providing you with an overview of the concepts behind Classic and Adaptive Platform. We will also briefly cover the workflows for both standards, from high-level system architecture, all the way down to automatically generating production code for AUTOSAR software components.
Episode 2 - AUTOSAR Classic Platform. A deep dive.
This session will explore the AUTOSAR Classic platform. Prior to the introduction of AUTOSAR Classic, various de-facto standard or proprietary architecture concepts were used in the industry, with their typical challenges of incompatibilities or restrictions. A couple of years ago, AUTOSAR was introduced as an industry-wide and vendor-independent standard to create consistency and efficiency across the development supply chain for automotive applications. We will dive into the workflows facilitating AUTOSAR engineering, from an OEM and from a supplier’s point of view, and we will demonstrate how to develop AUTOSAR software components.
Episode 3 - AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform. A deep dive.
With the increasingly complex software-driven functionality of vehicles, of which autonomous driving is probably the most prominent one, the AUTOSAR Adaptive platform was introduced. In this session, we will highlight workflows implementing AUTOSAR Adaptive components, and we will discuss how AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive workflows can be combined. Furthermore, we will also discuss migration strategies from AUTOSAR Classic to Adaptive.
Episode 4 - AUTOSAR and the Digital Thread
This session will explore how AUTOSAR engineering integrates into the Digital Thread context, covering many aspects of the Digital Thread, such as cross domains traceability, covering artifacts from different domains, and early validation and verification with models and code in the loop.
