Collaborative end-to-end requirements management

Facilitate involvement of all stakeholders in the development, analysis, tracking, and management of requirements, enterprise-wide and along the supply chain. Your projects benefit from end-to-end linking requirements with corresponding lifecycle artifacts. Efforts required to demonstrate full coverage of requirements and for preparation for compliance audits are drastically reduced.

Seamless integration with other lifecycle tools

IBM DOORS Next runs on the open Jazz platform and seamlessly integrates with other Jazz-based or OSLC-compatible lifecycle tools. Link requirements across tool boundaries, e.g. with UML models, test sequences, source code, etc. Click on a link to see the up-to-date original artifact to which the link refers, at any time, regardless of which tool it is stored in.

Manage configurations across tool boundaries

IBM DOORS Next leverages the configuration management capabilities built into the Jazz platform. The view on particular configurations includes corresponding assets in other lifecycle tools ("Global Configuration"). You are able to track and document the implementation of a specific configuration at any time throughout the entire development process.

Improved product quality

Collaborative requirements capture, definition, and maintenance provide you with a clear non-ambiguous view of the system under development. IBM DOORS Next built-in capabilities to assist requirements review and approval processes help you create high-quality, unambiguous, and complete requirements for the product under development.

Reduce certification efforts

IBM DOORS Next supports compliance with functional and non-functional requirements, including the definition of workflows and processes. Compliance with regulatory and other requirements becomes easier, and the effort required to create necessary evidence is reduced.

Shorten time-to-market

With IBM DOORS Next, projects are accelerated through optimized communication with all stakeholders. Transfer of requirements between OEM and supplier is based on the ReqIF standard, allowing direct export and import of requirements data. There is no need to use intermediate data formats, and time-consuming and error-prone reworking of requirements and links is not necessary.

Reuse of artifacts

Access Change and Configuration Management across tool boundaries ("Global Configuration") with IBM DOORS. Effectively manage product versions and variants throughout the lifecycle and leverage and evolve valuable existing artifacts, such as requirements, models, source code modules, etc. Baselines across engineering disciplines help you increase productivity and quality.

Increase efficiency through the centralized configuration of requirement-related artifacts

With IBM DOORS Next, you'll be working from a centralized definition for types of artifacts, link relationships, attributes, and link rules. When creating a requirement, the appropriate definition is applied including the intended usage of the new asset. All assets belonging to this project will adhere to the consistent data type configuration defined for this project.

Open for integrations

IBM DOORS Next runs on the open Jazz platform and seamlessly integrates with other Jazz-based or OSLC-compatible lifecycle tools. And if you are using Atlassian Jira, OSLC Connect for Jira will facilitate linking requirements in IBM DOORS to Jira assets and kickstart collaboration throughout the lifecycle.

IBM DOORS Next Features

Optimize communication and requirements quality, resulting in higher productivity and quality of your products.

Bi-directional traceability

Link requirements within IBM DOORS Next and across tool boundaries, e.g. with UML models, test sequences, source code, etc. Click on a link to see the up-to-date original artifact to which the link refers, at any time, regardless of which tool it is stored in. Traceability reports provide you with a comprehensive view of the coverage of the specification.

Requirements change management

The built-in capabilities for review and approval of changes to requirements ensure that there are no unsolicited changes. All relevant stakeholders and project participants are involved in the process and are informed about updates in real-time.

"Suspect links"

In OEM/supplier projects, you exchange requirements using the ReqIF format. When re-importing requirements into your project, changes by your remote project partner are detected and the corresponding links are marked as "suspect". You are able to quickly identify potential issues and check if a modified requirement needs further adjustments to any of the linked artifacts.

Lifecycle integration

IBM DOORS Next is based on the open Jazz platform which allows you to establish direct links to assets stored in any other Jazz-based lifecycle tools. No copies are created, and no unwanted versions of an asset will emerge. Linking is based on the open OSLC (Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration) standard.

Individual views

IBM DOORS Next allows creation of widely customizable individual views of your data to highlight or reveal specific aspects that would otherwise remain hidden in the abundance of information displayed. Various filtering options are available, e.g. by attributes, link relationships, test results, etc.. Simply switch between views by click.
